Fecon’s® Soil Hog milling attachments are well suited to milling compacted soil, stumps, and roots, or to blend in stabilizing materials or additives to improve the soil. The Soil Hogs can also be used to fell and incorporate standing trees into the ground if desired. The soil hog is ideal for loosening top soil, milling fields of poplar stumps and roots in order to convert land back into tillable acres for alternative crops, reclaiming tillable acres from lost land due to encroaching tree lines or windbreaks, creating ideal planting beds at Christmas tree farms while milling tree stumps, or to incorporate organics back into the soil during rehabilitation of forest land following wildfire.
Rotor diameters range from 28”-40” and can be operated at 110 to 440 horse power to mill 6"-18” deep, leaving a homogeneous mix of organic material in a light well aerated condition. Rotor direction can be configured to the type of carrier, primary direction of operation, and desired results. RF and RFL PTO powered models include adjustable depth shoes, push bar or optional compacting roller, an overrunning slip clutch and synchronized pivoting gear box that allow a broad range of motion to operate smoothly at various depths. Chisel-shaped carbide tools for the RF and RFL Soil Hogs are highly effective at processing wood in the soil and the innovative rotor design utilizes fewer carbide tools compared to most drum-style systems that run cone tip tools.
